Wrapped in a blanket of weariness.
Maybe not a blanket.
More like a tarp.
Partly my own undoing--
Late nights craving those Moments
When all the little ones are finally Asleep.
Savoring the quiet,
Without interruptions.
Partly the fallen world--
Body buffeted by aching joints, puffy eyes...
It's that sniffing, sneezing, itchy time again.
Weighted under the inescapable.
Laundry deferred is laundry
Accumulated.
Homework must be
Done.
Children must be
Dressed.
Meals must be
Made.
Questions must be
Answered.
Noses must be
Wiped.
Wanting to just bury my pounding, foggy head
And shut my eyes to wake up
Next Tuesday.
And so I go to the place
Where He meets me.
In His Words I will find rest...

they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
