Mainly because it's our place...a place for just the two of us.
I am thankful for a beautiful marriage.
Not a perfect one--we've hit deep hurts and hard edges from outside and within.
But a marriage that is solid and secure and full of joy.
One that is held together by love--
love that keeps growing and changing and deepening between us.
One that is held together by God--
our promise to Him, even greater than our promise to each other.
We met in December of 1994,
a seed that was planted almost 17 years ago.
I was dating someone else, but my Jason knew--
And soon, so did I...
Our first date was to the movies. Little Women was the show. He brought his roommate with us.
A silent, starlight drive for me and Jason...
And Brett (his roommate).
But something in their banter made me like him even more.
By April he had my heart.
I even sewed-it-out as proof.
We had moments of faltering...
Like when he bought us tickets to the R.E.M. concert that was three months away.
I knew it meant he was sure we'd still be together three months down the road.
How's that for fear of commitment?
But by the end of the summer,
I knew what commitment I wanted him to make.
So again--I sewed.
Probably the only two times in my life that I've threaded a needle. And I carried Ruth 1:16-17 in my wallet for the next several months, praying that someday Jason would ask me to be his wife.
He asked in December '95.
We married in December '96.
And now here we are--
Over 14 anniversaries, 54 birthday parties, 11 mother's & father's days, 5110 days of marriage, 3705 bedtimes with kiddos, 3540 off-to-work-days, 2 adoptions, 2000 school days, 23,360 changed diapers, 15,330 meals, 2 apartments, 2 homes, 1 church, 2 employers, 5 children, 4 cars, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 bird, 3 ducks, 3 fish, 187 stick bugs and 83 Madagascar Hissers later.....
And I love Jason so much more now than I even did then...when our roots were beginning to grow.
So that leads me to my Mother's Day present.
This year, for Mother's Day, he gave me help with this blog design.
He knows I love to write and he reads what I write.
He also knows me.
And that anything to do with the design side overwhelms me.
So once again...
I find myself so thankful for this man--
Who loves me faithfully...
Who loves God faithfully...
And who sees what is close to my heart and finds ways to be supportive.
Here are just a few other reasons that I love my guy.
But first...do you like my Mother's Day present?

No...this was the "other Brett"...Prince :)
Looks great! It's always nice when presents are thoughtful and also meet a need :-) I also enjoyed reading your list of things you love about your hubby. Lots of joy there.

Thanks Trisha! Makes me smile each time I open up the page :)
I'm just catching up on some blog reading- love the new look! (And all the sweet sewing projects, in faith!) :)
On an unrelated note- what an influence you seem to be having in the world through this 25 Faith blogs thing. Reading some of the comments and viewing some of your commenters blogs was eye-opening. May Jesus Christ be praised!
