Medical Coverage and Protection

This morning I attended a webinar for my husband's work.
We are getting new health plans next month, but instead of everything just rolling over, we need to enroll--
And make choices about different plan options.
Different kinds of medical coverage and protection.

So I got the big kids settled upstairs doing school work (we homeschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays) and put Lydia (our 2 year old) in the girls' room to play.
She has a gate on the door to her room because until she becomes a bit more obedient...
And gains a bucket load of wisdom,
I need at least one place I can leave her and know that she'll be safe.  She's been in a climbing-acrobatic-phase for the past 12 months.

So I logged in to the webinar...
And listened and asked some questions,
And found myself considering the very-high-deductible plan over our usual PPO choice.  Because it makes sense...unless you're making regular trips to the ER.

Never mind that we were just there last month when our $9.99-Ikea-indoor-rings
became $370-concussion-swings.

Still--thankfully, our needs for medical coverage have been pretty minimal in the past two years.
So I was really considering the options to share with my husband....
When--
I heard a very loud thud upstairs.

Apparently Lydia had a party in her room while I was preoccupied

Which led to her climbing on the dresser that is supposed to look like this...

But instead I found the really very heavy mirror  that is supposed to be bolted to the wall,
like this...

Immediately I panicked.
She was still screaming-wailing-screaming...
And that mirror is really heavy as in--
I-can-hardly-lift-it-by-myself-heavy.

And when I saw the girls' jewelry box,
with its door smashed off the hinges...

All I could think about was
tiny smashed fingers...
or worse.
But Lydia peaked her head out from behind the mirror...
Still crying, but all in one piece.

And that's when I noticed how the mirror fell...
caught by 1/4 inch on the edge of the dresser.
Preventing the weight from falling on her little body...

She did end up with a cut on her leg...

But nothing more serious.
And while I realize there are no-promised-number-of-days...
I also want to give thanks when thanks is due.

And I know God protected her today.
So thankful.
(and I think I know which Medical Coverage we will be choosing...)

For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways.
~Psalm 91:11
