but also to the interests of others.
~Philippians 2:4
--On Wednesday is was whether or not to pull the empty trashcan in from the curb (or let my husband do it when he returned from work).
--On Thursday, it was whether or not to engage in a long conversation with my daughter about American girl dolls and their accessories (or opt out for very-much-needed-personal-time).
--On Friday, it was about making the drive downtown with all four kiddos to visit my husband's work (I'm terrified of parallel parking in busy places).
--Last night, it was deciding whether or not to respond to the cries-in-the-middle-of-the-night of a
two-year-old needing comfort (when I so wanted to wrap the pillow around my ears and ignore her calls for "mama").
two-year-old needing comfort (when I so wanted to wrap the pillow around my ears and ignore her calls for "mama").
--This morning, it involved cereal and giving up the remnants of my favorite kind for another who didn't like the other option (and neither did I--why did I buy that kind anyway?)
--This afternoon it was the extra trip to the store to pick up the certain-item that a certain-daughter wants to give to another certain-daughter for Christmas (and when we arrived, and she counted out her money and she had the perfect amount and we got the last one, she said, "probably God let that happen").
--Right now it involves whether or not I finish this post (or stop to watch the history channel with my kids and husband so that I can learn more about the Doolittle Raiders).
--Tonight it may involve which movie we watch (my guy and I have very different taste) or who gets to take a shower first or how late we stay up (he's a night owl and I need sleep).
And on...and on...and on.
It's all in the details.
The little choices.
It's all in the details.
The little choices.
And so often my attitude is wrong.
I may give in, but with a martyr's mask of sacrifice.
Until...
It hits me what He did--
My Savior.
And being found in human form,
He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross.
~Phil. 2:8
And then it becomes so clear what it really all comes down to--
My interests...
or others'.
And because of Him...
I pray God will help me choose
others.
