...before this whole Top 25 Faith Blogs Contest is over.
I was trying to come up with something just great for this last post before the Top 25 Faith Blogs Contest ends tomorrow at 5pm PST.
We're sitting at #24 as I write this...which is highly surprising and almost unbelievable...but I'm really thankful.
Instead I decided to just share some reasons that you probably shouldn't vote for us.
Reasons you shouldn't vote for The Chuppies:
#1--Unlike most of the blogs in the Top 25 that were actually nominated for the list...
We, on a whim, decided to nominate ourselves (which was the case for most of the blogs on the larger list), never thinking that nearing the Top 25 was a possibility.
#2--I'm still not sure if 5pm PST is our time or their time,
so I keep telling people the contest ends at either 2pm or 5pm.
Very helpful.
(I'm editing this at 2pm. Apparently it wasn't 2pm because it's still going.)
#3--The Chuppies does not sound much like a "Faith Blog Title" to me...
We should be "God's Chuppies" or "Chuppies for Him" or "The Cheerful Chuppies".
But...we're not...we're just the good ol' Chuppies.
#4--I have twice now accidentally voted for the blog directly behind me...
Once when we were only ahead by 8 votes.
Nice. Right?
This is just one of the many reasons that I'm kinda shocked we're still in this thing.
#5--I changed our blog design mid-contest because my husband gave me help as my Mother's Day gift. Not a great marketing concept to switch up everything mid-way,
but who could pass up that cute squirrel now in our header?
#6--I WAY over use (...) and (--)
I'm working on that...but not very much--
#7--I wrote a tweaky email to several of the Christian bloggers currently with me in the Top 25--
basically acknowledging that I think it's crazy we're in the Top 25 with them.
Honestly--they and they and they and they and many more of them are wonderful writers
who have been blogging consistently for much longer than I have.
But they have been very welcoming and have really reached out...
#8--I took a break from Facebook for almost 2 months starting back in February,
so it's kind of humbling to admit how helpful Facebook has been in the Faith Blogs voting.
I'm still partially deactivated, so I don't get any notifications.
This means I have probably not thanked a gazillion of our incredible friends
who have been spreading the word on Facebook.
Thank you. I mean that.
#9--Most of my writing is done in pajamas.
Well--since I'm being honest here--I should probably just admit that it's a Snuggie.
I know. Attractive.
But I usually write before the kids get up... when there are still a few drops of quiet left in the house.
#10--If you vote to keep The Chuppies in the Top 25,
I may even promise you a longer recess, no homework, and candy bars in the vending machines.
I think that's what we were supposed to promise when I was running for Student Council Vice President in middle school.
I forgot to promise that.
I didn't win.
But now...more seriously...
There are 36 hours left to vote.
You could probably get in one more vote today and maybe one tomorrow.
For some, this has turned into a contest about what falls under the umbrella of faith.
You can read my heart about that in this post and the comments that follow.
What is Faith?
Ultimately--only God's answer to that question--is what matters.
And Jesus said:
I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
~John 14:6
If we don't make it through to the end, it's okay.
The Chuppies will be okay...
I'm so thankful for the friendships that have developed through this journey.
And for all the support and encouragement from our
ever-faithful-be-God's-hands-and-feet-in-real-life-community.
Our family-friends who have walked with us through much joy and sorrow in life.
But--if we do stay in the Top 25, I give you my true promise--
The same promise that has always been on our Meet The Chuppies page:
Above all else...we love God and desire to live for Him with an eternal perspective.
We know our relationship with Him is completely dependent on the redemption that took place when Jesus died on the cross for our sins and was raised with triumphant victory over sin.
We believe the Bible is God's Word and that God gave it to us as the ultimate authority in our lives. Our desire is to love God more and more, to find our purpose and satisfaction in Him.
We ask Him to help us let our light shine before others, so that they may see our good works and most importantly, give glory to our Father who is in Heaven.
~Matt 5:16
